  • Mills v. Board of Education of the District of Columbia

    In this case the board of education of the DC felt they were not able to support children with disabilities in the schools because lack of financial resources. The courts ruling was schools could not deny students with disabilities and they could not use lack of financial resources as a reason to not provide students with a education. This ruling supports the needs of students with disabilities because it holds school responsible for treating all students the same.

  • Honig v. Doe

    2 students were expelled for the remained of the year due to behavior related to disabilities. The court ruled that schools could not keep students out of the classroom because of their disabilities for more then 10 days with a few exceptions. This supports the needs of the students with disabilities by ensuring their behaviors that they cannot control is not held against them.

  • Timothy W v. Rochester, New Hampshire School District

    Timothy appealed an order that stated a child with profound handicaps is not eligible for special education if he can't benefit from the learning. The ruling was that all handicapped children have a right to a free appropriate public education. This supports the needs of disabled students because it is giving them the opportunity to attend school not matter how sever the disability.
