  • War of 1812

    British interference with American trade, forcing of American into the British Navy and War Hawks drive for western expansion lead to the War of 1812. War settled little but strengthens US as independent nation. It’s important because it was an important turning point in their losing struggle to govern themselves. It shaped our country by the British blocked the American coast, creating a shortage of cotton cloth in the United States.This lead to the creation of a cotton manufacturing industry
  • Abraham Lincoln

    Abraham Lincoln was our 16th president. He stopped slavery in the USA but was assassinated during a play. This event is important because he was the first president to ever stop slavery and stand up for the slaves. It shaped our country by advancing toward equal rights for all people.
  • Civil war

    The American Civil War was an internal conflict fought in the United States from 1861 to 1865. This war is important because it was a huge war in America and killed many people but it also shaped our country to what it is now.
  • World War 1

    This event was the first war also known as the Great war. It was an global war originating in Europe that lasted from July 28, 1914 to November11, 1918. It’s important because it was the first War to ever be world wide and it was very cruel. Empires were destroyed, millions were killed and the world was turned upside down in a war meant to end all others.
  • World War 2

    It was known as the Second World War, it was a world wide war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, although related conflicts began before this war began. It’s important because the people who started it were trying to use racist imperialism and violence to spread their views and control over people who thought differently about their race. It shaped our country about racist thoughts and about others.
  • Bermuda Triangle

    The bermuda Triangle is an island where men sailed there and disappeared, it is very mysterteic. This is important because all the men that disappeared were very heroic and sacrificed themselves to discover why it is happening. It shaped our country because of all the disappearances and new discoveries that could change the world.
  • Moon Landing

    The moon landing was the first aircraft to ever land on the moon, it including unmanned missions and manned missions. It is important because it put america in front of the “space race” and the whole world watched as America put the first man on the moon. It was important because the US was falling behind Russia in space exploration and this put them back at the top.
  • 9/11

    9/11 was a terrorist attack on the twin towers and Washington DC on September 11, 2001. This was the first large terrorist attack in the US. It was important as it led to the killing of Osama Bin laden and brought the war on terrorism to light. The homeland security act started after the attack, helping to keep things like this from happening again.
  • President Obama

    Obama is an American politician who served as the 44th President of the United States. He was the first colored president to run and make it into the office. He ran in 2005 and left in 2016-2017. He is important because he was the first colored president and he created Obama care that was for everyone, and allowed some new laws like gay marriage. He also was in the office for 8 years. This shaped our country by changing many peoples lives with Obama Care and with the new law.
  • Hurricane Sandy

    Hurricane Sandy was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane in Atlantic. A lot of people died from the hurricane, 285, at least 125 deaths were in the United States. This is important because it cost over 60 million dollars in damage to repair, and took so many lives. This shaped our country by having better hurricane protection or new rooms/drills for hurricanes like this one.
