    On April 26 1770 Captain James Cook set foot on Botany Bay New South Wales. He was sent over to find new land as Britains prisons were getting full because people had to steal because most people had lost their job because of the machinery making it hard to find a job.

The high level of crime was because people had no jobs because of all of the machinery during the industrial revolution. Some people could be sent over for something a simple as stealing a loaf of bread.

    Robert O'Hara Burke and William John Wills were the first explorers to cross Australia from South to North. They had 28 horses and carriages and 24 camels who carried 2 years worth of supplies to survive during their journey. The explorers died at the end of June 1861.
