    Men who did not belong to the church were not allowed to vote. Also if you did not have a spiritual feeling in the church it was told you would not go to heaven.

    The men say they should be free to have any religious feelings or thoughts. In 1776 The Virginia Bill of Rights gave them the right to believe in what the wanted, but 1786 they cut off ties between church and government.
