  • Jim Crow Laws

    were state and local laws that enforced racial segregation. This was important in this era because there was alot of racial problems.
  • Chinese Exclusion Act

    federal law signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882, prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers. This was important because many people didnt want immigrants in america.
  • Sinking of the Lusitania

    Germany waged submarine warfare against the United Kingdom which had implemented a naval blockade of Germany.This was important because its one of the actions that made the US get in WW1
  • Zimmerman Telegram

    secret diplomatic communication issued from the German Foreign Office in January 1917 that proposed a military alliance between Germany and Mexico in the prior event of the United States entering World War I against German. This was important because it stopped mexico from attacking the US.
  • Sedition Act

    was an Act of the United States Congress that extended the Espionage Act of 1917. This was important because there were alot of spies during this era.
  • 18th Amendment

    prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the United States by declaring the production, transport, and sale of alcohol illegal. Many people didnt like this and was a very bad ammendment
  • 19th Amendment

    prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex. This was important because it have people more rights mostly women.
  • Immigration Act of 1924

    limited the number of immigrants allowed entry into the United States. This was important in this era because immigration was a problem for some people.
  • John Scopes - The Monkey Trial

    A case where John Scopes was teaching human evolution even though it was illegal.
  • Eugene V. Debs

    Eugene Victor Debs was an American union leader, one of the founding members of the Industrial Workers of the World, and five times the candidate of the Socialist Party of America for President of the United States. Died in 1926 and he was important because he did many good things.
  • 20th Amendment

    moved the beginning and ending of the terms of the president and vice president from March 4 to January 20, and of members of Congress from March 4 to January 3
  • 21th Amendment

    repealed the Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which had mandated nationwide Prohibition on alcohol on January 16, 1919. This was important because many people were very mad about the 18th amendment.
  • Red Scare

    As the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States intensified in the late 1940s and early 1950s, hysteria over the perceived threat posed by Communists in the U.S. became known as the Red Scare. This was important in this era because communist were a upcoming threat.
