  • The Invention of the Cottongin

    Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in 1793 to allow the cotton seeds to be removed from the cotton fibers. The quick seed removal mode the farming of cotton profitable and lead to cotton being georgias biggest cash crops at that time ( Georgia its herratiage ans its promise).
  • Yazoo Land Fraud

    People bought land from Georgia, then found out it was a fraud and made Georgia buy the land back. The Yazoo land fraud made Georgia's politics the way they are today( new Georgia encyclopedia).
  • the opening of UGA

    The state of Georgia set back land to put a public university. UGA helped Georgia grow as a state b/c it brought more people to northern Georgia to go to the collage (Georgia its heratiage and its promise).
  • 1803-1833 land loitteries

    people would put their names in a drawling and if their name got picked they were affered to buy or not buy. georgia conducted a total of 18 land lotteries, and by the end of georgia's land lotteries georgia sold approximately 3/4 of the state to about 1000 families( new georgias encyclopedia)
  • headright system

    the boss of the house gets 200 acares of land for every person of the family including slaves.the head of the house hold gets land, this made georgia grow b/c famlies moved down here to get some land( georgia's its heratiage and its promise).
  • The Dahnega gold rush

    A prospector from North Carolina found gold near Dahlonega. The gold rush near Dahlonega brought thousands of gold miners to north, which helped Georgia it brought in people who had to get a place to stay in Georgia ( new georgias encyclopedia).
  • 1831-1832 worcester v. georgia

    john marshal took georgia to the u.s supreme court to seattle the debate about georgia tring to take over native land. the natives weren't procted in court , which that let georgia take the native land (new georgia encylopedia) .
  • RailRoads

    A business man n Athens created the first railroad that traveled in Georgia. Railroads helped out Georgia b/c it made it easyer to travel throught out Georgia and into other states to provide a better way to transport cotton ( Georgia its heratiage and its promise).
