The 83rd Congress passed The Act of 1938. Which changed Armistice Day to Veteran's Day. This change occured due to the great mobilization of soldiers during World War I. WIth the appproval of this act, Veteran's Day became a day to honor and commemorate all veterans of war.

Under new laws, Veteran's Day was rescheduled to take place on the fourth Monday of evry October. This law was in effect until 1978.

President Gerald R. Ford signed the Public Law 94-97, that changed the observance of Veteran's Day back to November 11th. Which was to go into place in 1978.
