    In 1999, the United States hosted the women's world cup. The US team had made it to the championship game againt China. After playing the full 90 minutes and extra time, the scored remained at 0-0. The teams went into shoot outs and Briana Scurry had saved China's 3rd kick and the two teams were tied 4-4 as Brandi Chastain stepped up as the final shooter. She made her shot and slid on her knees and ripped her shirt off in celebration. This act was spread all over news within the nest week.
