Pan-American Health Organization formed
The Pan American Health Organization was formed aside from the "Pan American Union" (which was to become the General Secretariat of the OAS), to focus specifically on health issues. PAHO would become the regional office of WHO in later years. -

Ninth International Conference of American States held
The Ninth International Conference of American States was held in Bogota, Colombia. The Charter of the Organization of American States was officially adopted by the now-21 strong organization. The American Treaty on Pacific Settlement, and the American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man are adopted. The OAS developed a relationship with the UN. -
