    The first ever Apple iPhone was unveiled by Steve Jobs in San Francsico in January 2007 (The Telegraph, 2016). More than 5 million units of the device were sold (The Telegraph, 2016)

    iPhone 3G
    The iPhone 3G was more of a portable pocket computer rather than a mobile communication device (The Telegraph, 2016). It introduced cellular network capabilities and GPS (Apple, 2008)
  • iPhone 3GS

    iPhone 3GS
    S stood for speed, as the 3rd generation model introduced 3 mega-pixel camera, video ability and voice control (The Telegraph, 2016)
  • iPhone 4

    Over 100 new features, including new design, front and rear glass, 24% thinner than its predecessor and front and rear camera (Jobs, 2010)
  • iPhone 4S

    iPhone 4S
    Height: 4.5 inches, Width: 2.31 inches, weight: 140 grams, GPS, Wi-Fi, cellular data, retina display, 8 mega-pixel camera and new feature FaceTime (Apple, 2016)
  • iPhone 5

    First available for around $799 (Sydney Morning Herald, 2012). Thinner, lighter and bigger screen (Apple, 2012).
  • iPhone 5S

    Same design as 5, except for redesigned home button, updated camera and change to available colours: now available in white/gold colour as well as white/silver and gray/black (Apple, 2016)
  • iPhone 5C

    iPhone 5C
    Released on the same date as the 5S, however has plastic casing, variety of colours, considered to be the more 'affordable' iPhone (Haslam, 2016)
  • iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

    iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
    Released on the same date, however iPhone 6 features a 4.7 inch retina display, whereas the 6 Plus introduces the 'enlarged' iPhone, with a 5.5 inch retina display (Apple, 2016). Both models share similar features (Apple, 2016).
  • iPhone 6S and 6S Plus

    iPhone 6S and 6S Plus
    Similar to the 6 and 6 Plus, the 6S Plus is an 'enlarged' version of the 6S (Kelly, 2015). The 6S models are stronger than the 6 and 6 Plus, significantly heavier, introduces 3D touch, feature a 12 mega-pixel camera and available in the colours silver, slate grey, rose gold and gold (Kelly, 2015).
  • iPhone SE

    iPhone SE
    Apple says that the SE is the 'most powerful 4-inch phone ever' (Apple, 2016). Features a new design (similar to that of the iPhone 5), faster CPU and GPU performance, 12 mega-pixel camera, and advanced Touch ID security (Apple, 2016).
