    The Pencil was first invented in 1795 with the use of graphite and wood. Graphite had been found hundreds of years before, but it wasn't until 1795 that it was used in a pencil. The pencil has changed education because it created a way to write down important information used in education.

    The ballpoint pen was designed to prevent the smudging of ink. The ball in the tip of the pen has two purposes; to act as a cap to prevent drying of ink and to maintain a steady flow of ink. The ballpoint pen created a quick and easy way to record information.
  • Videotapes

    Videotapes were introduced in 1951, they created a new way to introduce new information to the students. Videotapes use magnetic tape that produces images and sounds. So instructional videos could then be used as a new teaching technique.

    The first photocopier was invented in 1938, however, it did not reach the market until 1959. It created a new way for teachers to make copies of assignments for their students and even allowed them to copy articles and books.

    3M created a way to project information from a clear sheet onto a wall or board so that students could read and take notes on the information. Transparencies made it easy for teachers to display the information to the whole class.

    The internet was first created in 1969, and it created a way for information to be transferred via computer systems. However, at this time, computers were not in the classrooms.

    Handheld Calculators were first introduced into the United States in 1970. These calculators created a much easier way to perform mathematical operations within seconds. They are still a very important tool that is used in education today.

    The Scantron

    The scantron was invented in 1972 in Los Angeles, California. It was designed to make grading easier. It can grade a test in seconds by using optical recognition. Scantron mostly helped the educators save time.

    The personal computer made accessing information much easier for educators as well as students. When computers are paired with the internet, students have access to endless information. Computers are one of the most important technological advancements in the history of education.
  • The Smartboard

    The Smartboard

    The Smartboard created an interactive whiteboard that teachers could write on. They help students interact by having the student go to the front of the class and write on the board. I believe that many students thought it was fun to use the Smartboards when they first came out.
