    New York trains became the spot to tag. New York in general became covered in in and paint as taggers and graffiti artists took to the streets to make their mark.

    Mayor Lindsay the mayor of New York during the time of this graffiti decided to wage a war. This boom of graffiti caused a boom of crime and the Mayor vowed to remove all the trains with graffiti. They were not to go into circulation until they were cleaned.
