EAHCA Amended
The Education for All Handicapped Children Act is amended to be termed the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This revision included adding autism and traumatic brain injury to the list of designated disabilities, strengthening the definition of least restrictive environment (LRE), and mandating that transition services begin at least by age 16 for students receiving special education services (Wood, 2006, p. 10). -
