    Phillippines was already place in form of the written word which is the ancient alphabet called alibata or baybayin. Filipino also used materials existing in their environment to jot down and record their experience and transactions using a language system. the Filipinos created a broadcast system of information which is the existence of the umalohokan . the role of umalohokan was to go around the barangay or their small towns and announce an important announcement that concerns the citizenry.

Since American taught us English,it was not hard to copped up with them.However all that was changed when Japanese occupy the country. Only those who have authority can choose what selected newspaper were allowed to run.Under ground media operated during that time until then the country was liberated from Japanese rule.

DZRH is the oldest radio up until today it continue to provide broadcast to the country.

    Since radio became a hit in 1920s,it was the favorite among the Filipinos.It helped the Filipinos in a way that they further educate the public such as the farmers and etc.Francisco KoKo Trinidad created a system where radio is like classroom listening so that it further enhanced to educate the Filipinos.1947 to 1970 he created a radio program that was similar to British Broadcast Corporation.until then Television came into the country brought by James Lindenberg in 1946

    When James Lindenberg abandoned his television dream,it also happened to a different person;Antonio Quirino.he was denied by the congress to a request for television license because they feared to promote his brother to become a president. Quirino helped Linderberg by buying the stock is his company and created as his own.Quirino ran ABS until then Eugenio and Lopez showed a sign of wanting the company.Later then they purchased ABS and known up until now as ABS-CBN.

    During Marcos Dictatorship many business families went into television broadcasting such as Robert Stewart who established DZBB.Later then the broadcast industry was put to halt by Ferdinand Marcos since he thought that radio and television is a potential threat to his reigning.With the far reaching message that radio and television the freedom fighters were able to convey their message to fellow Filipino.They were successful on gaining our freedom from Marcos dictatorship with the use of radio.

    During the reign of President Ferdinand Marcos many journalist were in jail because they are against in the implementation of Martial Law.Some journalist forced to underground and some newspaper were allowed but their slant was always pro-Marcos. however this obstacle does not stop the journalist to inform of their fellow Filipino of what really happened in that time.Since President Ferdinand Marcos suppress the press freedom it took 14 years under strict regulation of the government.

    The 1987 Philippines Constitution was established it state that media should be protected and remain free. it guarantees the freedom of the press as well as the freedom of expression up to today.When the Spanish and American came to the Philippines they introduced magazine. Later then they were adapted by Filipino publisher,editors and writers. The most known magazine is the LIwayway Magazine.
