Every single person in Melbourne was affected by WW1. Things such as new immigration restrictions were put in place, sunshine harvester company established, the first basic wage was enforced and Vic women got to vote occurred. As well as that the Immigration Restriction restricted the entry of non-European immigrants. This effected the large Chinese population largely.

On 1st of Jan 1901 British government enforced the Australian colonies independence and gave them the rich to govern as part of the commonwealth of Australia. This joined Australia together and bring great advantages to it. -
WW1 in Melbourne improved, and people enjoyed themselves for a while. Things improved as electricity came to the city, transport networks and business grew at a fast pace. Although WW2 started in 1939. The improvement of WW1 effected the city greatly, as people were able to start living normally again, there were also forms of entertainment now. As the city was still recovering from the Great Depression WW1 started, effecting everyone in different ways. During this time many people died.

Post-war years brought changes to Melbourne, Immigration increased, high rise complexes were built, and industries flourished. First holden car was made in Melbourne, roads and shopping malls were built, queen Elizabeth visited the city and Tullamarine airport opened. Televisión was invented. This was a great time as many things were made bringing entertainment and ways of transport to the city. This caused economic growth as a lot of money was coming out of places such as the new malls.

On 7th feb 2009 the worst bush fire in Aus was recorded. The temp on the day reached up to 46.4c which is the hottest day to be recorded in Melbourne. Around 400 individual fires were burning around vic with more than 10 major ones. 173 people died with 414 injured. This brought grief to Victoria as the environment and homes were destroyed as well as the deaths of many people. There was money issues as they had to re build, re plant. Wildlife were also killed causing some species to go extinct.
