    One of the earliest forms of instructional technologies, it contained letters of the alphabet and was placed on a wooden plate with a handle. It was mainly used to teach how to read.
  • Sandbox

    In early 1800's sandbox was used to teach the alphabet. Students would write the letters on the sand over and over again, as an instructional resource it was cheap and would never run out.
  • The Blackboard

    The Blackboard
    When it was first introduced, teachers did not use it effectively for a while because they did not know hot to implement and integrate it to the lessons. After a while, they realized how helpful it is in group instruction, they started using it regularly and it is an istructional technology still in use today.
  • Lead pencil

    Lead pencil
    Lead pencil was invented in 18th century, but it wasn't until the 20th century that it started to be mass produced alongside paper which greatly contributed to the process of teaching and learning.

    Nearly a decade after its invention, first educational films were made. Thomas edison advocated its use in clasrooms at the time.

    Invention of radio had a huge impact on educational technologies, soon after its invention it started to be used commonly in classrooms
  • Overhead Projector

    Overhead Projector
    After its invention it was generally used by U.S. military to educate soldiers but it became widespread in schools in a short period of time.

    a decade after its first educational usage, in mid 1900's use of television in education was easily accessible.

    The use of computers in education aimed to make learning more individualized which was called computer assisted instruction. Computers still play an important role in teaching and learning.
  • The Internet

    the invention of internet goes back to 1969, internet as we know was invented in 1991. Internet immediately became a popular instructional technology with uses like virtual classrooms, distant education, availability of films videos podcasts books and articles.
