    The first school designed specifically for gifted students was opened in Massachusetts.
  • Intelligence Test

    Intelligence Test
    Henry Goddard works with the Binet-Simon intelligence tests in France. He then brings these tests back to America to be utilized in the United States educational system. These tests are then distributed to teachers and psychologists to help identify gifted students.
  • Stanford-Binet Testing

    Stanford-Binet Testing
    The Stanford-Binet intelligence tests were developed by Lewis Turman. These tests changed the way persons were identified as gifted and impacted the United States educational system forever.
  • First Gifted Education Textbook

    First Gifted Education Textbook
    Leta Hollingworth published the first known textbook dedicated to gifted education titled, Gifted Children: Their Nature and Nurture. Ten years later, she establishes a public school for young gited students and continues to work with gifted students in New York City.

    The United States of America passes many acts that benefit gifted students, programs and American education including; The National Defense Education Act, The Civil Rights Act, and Jacob Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Act.

    Pre-k - Grade 12 Standards
    The National Association of Gifted Children develops gifted standards to help guide educators efforts to challenge, teach and serve gifted students.
  • National Gifted Education Standards

    National Gifted Education Standards
    The National Association of Gifted Children develops new gifted standards to prepare educators, as well as standards designed to address gifted education knowledge and skills. These stanadrs were first estabilised in 2006 and later revised in 2013.
