  • The beginning

    The beginning
    Company was founded by two surfer dudes and friends named Doug Warbick and Brian Singer. They both had a huge passion for surfing and decided to start a business of their own, called Rip curl.

    The two friends qucikly used Warbick's small shed and opened started to make surf boards. FIrst four boards were made and were sold.

    The men both decided to move their shop to somewhere bigger and decided to move into an old bakery and paid $ 10 a week. Soon later on a new member would join the crew. His name being Alan Green

    Around this time the two men decided to let another surfer friend join them in their production. His name was Alan Green.
  • Alternative stuff

    After Alan Green joined Rip Curl he introduced some new product to both Warwick and singer. Those products being Wetsuits and bathing suits to sell to their customers.
  • A new change

    As the new year started Green decided to leave Rip Curl and later on eventually opened up Quiksilver. which is a very popular and renowned surf shop that still sells new and fashionable surfboards and clothing.
  • Time to expand

    The two men moved once again into a place in Torquay and started hiring workers to make wet suits and boards
  • Time to advertise.

    Time to advertise.
    During the 90's The men decided to advertise more and came up with a thing called the Search. The search was where local surfers would have to take pictures of them surfing or them doing tricks and send the pictures and some info about them into a local newspaper. From there the newspaper would send the pictures to Rip curl and Rip curl would put all of the surfers info into their background and make them part of the brand.

    Ripcurl gets an offer
    Singer and Warbick were given the offer to sell the brand for 500-600 million dollars. The men thought about it a lot. They thought about it so much it took them a year. They also considered doing it but decided to drop the plan and decided to keep the company. Since then they have continued making surf products and have gone international and made billions
  • Still up and Going

    Still up and Going
    Rip curl decided to put a page in their magazine saying they would be holding a contest called a Sunsmart Classic at Bells Beach, Australia. Many were intrigued and came and enjoyed themselves and found out more about the company. From then on the company has made billions
