    A medicine man would drill holes in the skull of an individual to release demons. One of the first recordings of phycological research on human beings, however most people died during trephination.
    I chose this event because I found it very interesting that in medieval times people really believed that this was a good way to fix mental problems or whatever else was going on with ones mental state.

    Tuskegee Syphilis Study

    African Americans in Macon county Alabama were studied to document diseases in African Americans and racial differences in the manifestation of syphilis. Men had syphilis and were not told that they had syphilis. Also treatments were out for syphilis however these African Americans were not given the treatment and prevented from obtaining treatment. I chose this event because it got me thinking about what else are government and institutions are doing to us or someone else without us knowing.

    Milgram Experiments (1963)
    These experiments were designed to see how far a participant would be willing to go to obey authority and cause harm to others, while going against their morals. Participants were to play the role as a teacher and increase the level of shocks the learner received. Majority of teaches followed through and obeyed authority despite their own morals. I found it interesting that an individual can go so far to obey authority despite their own beliefs of whether or not this is right or wrong.

    HIPAA( Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996)
    HIPAA law established the conditions under which public health information may be used or disclosed by covered entities for research purposes. It requires a researcher to tell the participant what will be done with the information provided for and from the experiment. Also must keep the participant anonymous and require a consent form.
    HIPAA is important to know just incase you are asked to partake in an experiment and so that you are aware about what can happen to the information you provided.
