  • Boston tea Party

    Boston tea Party
    American colonists were frustrated at Britain for imposing "taxation without representation." They dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. This was the first major act of defiance to the British.
  • The Declaration of Independence.

    The Declaration of Independence.
    The committee (Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, and Thomas Jefferson) let each of the 13 colonies to establish their own Government. Thomas Jefferson was chose to write the Declaration. It had passed and now all the colonies were considered independent from Great Britain.

    The Louisiana Purchase
    President Thomas Jefferson bought a 828,000 sq. miles piece of land from France. He bought it only for fifteen millions dollars, because the president of France needed money for war. That means he only paid three cents for each acre.

    The Lewis and Clark Journey

    When Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory from France, he hired Lewis and Clark to explore it. They were accompanied by others men and Natives who helped them with their journey. They discovered over 200 new plant and animal species and they made new updated maps.

    The California Gold Rush

    James W. Marshal found a piece of gold in California. The news took a while to travel, but soon 300,000 people swarmed California in hopes of finding gold to make them rich. Although, no one got rich from the California Gold Rush, except those who would sell food and tools to the men that were digging. The price went up nearly 10 dollars for anything that they sold.

    General Robert E. Lee marched his Army into Pennsylvania after he beat the Army of the Potomac. He was so confidant that he decided to invade the North for a second time. He also hoped to gain recognition of the Confederacy by Britain and France.
  • Assassination of Abraham Lincoln

    Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
    Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865 by John Wilkes Booth. After John learned that Lincoln was going to be at Ford's Theatre, he made a plan. He slipped into the box and fired his .44-caliber single right into the back of Lincoln's head.

    Pearl Harbor
    On September 11, 2001 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.Japan did this because they wanted control of East Asia for oil and other resources. Japan sank or damaged all of the U.S. battleship's.

    Woodstock Concert

    When the Woodstock Concert started as many as half a million people waited on a farm in Bethel, New York for it to start. Despite a lot of problems happening Woodstock was still a peaceful celebration. The festival was started because four men were looking for an investment opportunity. So they successfully organized the festival.
  • Fall of the Berlin Wall

    Fall of the Berlin Wall
    On August 13, 1961 the Communist government of the German Democratic Republic began the build the barbed wire and concrete wall. the purpose of the wall was to keep Western "fascists" from entering East Germany. This wall stood until November 9, 1989 when the head of the East German Communist Party said the citizens of the German Democratic Republic were allowed to pass the border whenever they wanted.
