The Gempei war was a conflicts between the Taira and Minamoto clan during the Heian period that led to the Taira clan felling. The total estimated casualties of the war was 50,000 20,000 form the Minamoto clan (Yoritomo) and 30,000 form the Taira clan. After the Gempei war the establishment of the Kamakura period began.
