Headphones were invented, but not for music.
The inventer is unknown. The first headphones werent even invented for music. Telephone operators used the first headphones ever made. There was one earpiece connected to a box that rested on the user's shoulder and weighed over 10 pounds.

They became the first dynamic headphones ever. Also, the DT-48's hit the market before anything else did. -

AKG designed and made their first pair of headphones. It was and is so popular that back then it was just enough for AKG just to focus on headphones and audio. -
A change in the game.
John C. Koss designed and created the first pair of stereo headphones called the Koss SP-3. He wanted to make Dr.Dre jealous using this idea. -
SR-1's
In Tokyo, Stax showed off the world's first electrostatic headphones. The headphones are now really hard to come by. -
ESP-6's
John brought out the first U.S. made electrostatic headphones. They were weighted at about two pounds. -
They are now portable!
Headphones all of the sudden needed to become portable. The Sony MDL-3L2 were te first portable headphones ever. Included with the new Walkman. -
Earbuds
The earbuds have now come to the 80's. -
More earbuds.
They are now nose cancelling earbuds by Sony. -
Beats came to join the partyyy.
Dr. Dre, Jimmy Lovine and with the help of Monster, Beats were created.
