  • Jame cook "Discovered" Hawaii

    James Cook landed his crew on a new island in 1778 and said he discovered it. This event was important because it is was caused many people around the world to start coming to hawaii.
  • Disease From Trading ships

    lots of trading ships started going by Hawaii on their way to China in 1780. This is important because it is what caused the death of many Hawaiians, all of the new diseases made the Hawaiians sick.
  • Unified The Islands

    In 1795 King Kamehameha 1 unified all of the Hawaiian islands. This was very important because all of the islands were at war an none of them really liked each other, so peace was very important.
  • Sugar Cane Production

    1815 the first sugar plantation started and was on Kauai, this is important because it started new ways for peoples life, it gave people jobs but it was indeed hard labor.
  • Missionaries Arrived

    Catholic Missionaries arrived in 1820, this was important because now most of Hawaii is a christian society.
  • Immigrants

    In 1865 was the first time immigrants came to Hawaii to work in the sugar cane farms. This is important because this is what caused all of the diversity in Hawaii today.
  • Hawaiian Train

    in 1879 the first locomotive train was built in hawaii on Maui to transport sugar cane. This is still a land mark today and is pretty well known.
  • Territory Of USA

    In 1900 Hawaii became a territory of the United States of America. This is important because Hawaii was protected by the USA now.
  • Hilo Tsunami

    In 1946 a huge tsunami hit hilo and caused of 100 deaths and 25 million dollars in damage. This is a well known event and won't be forgotten so it is important.
  • Hawaii Became a state

    Hawaii became the 50th state in aug 21, 1959. This is important because it is still the most recent state to be part of the USA.
