Happenings in the 13 Colonies

  • Rebecca Rolfe a.k.a Pochahontis is born.

    Pochahontis will soon pay a huge role in the 13 colonies, helping
    the English settelers.
  • Jamestown was Established

    Roanake was the 1st established colony, but three years later when John White returned he found that the whole colony disapeared. So Roanake may have been the 1st colony, but Jamestown was the 1st sucessful colony.
  • Only 38 people survived thorough the Winter.

    When colonists came from England they were very unprepaired, they came in Fall. They didn't grow enough crops to survive and only 38 people lived thorough the 1st Winter.
  • Start of the Starving time.

    With the gold rush people didn't plan ahead and forgot about growing crops
  • End of the Starving Time

    Finally it was Spring and now the Pilgrams grew crops.
  • Sold 1st Crop

    Once colonists started farming their crops flourished, and they soon began to sell them. And the 1st crop they sold was to England in 1614.
  • Pocahontas a.k.a Rebecca Rolfe dies.

    Pocahontas dies at 22 years old, however she lived a very full life. She helped settelers such as John Rolfe and John Smith
    and other Jamestown citizens by giving them food so she made sure that Jamestown didn't become another lost colony like Roanoke did. When she was 19 years old she married John Rolfe, became a Christian, and took up the new name of Rebecca Rolfe. The last thing she did was going to England and show to all nonbelivevers that not all Indians were bad. Though she never made the

    trip back home dying of T.B. or pneumonia.
  • Southern Colonies enslaved Africans.

    There were many plantations in the South, and They needed help so they enslaved Africans.
  • House of Burgesses met.

    House of Burgesses was the 1st government formed, officals took part in building it. They had a meeting in a chuch, in Jamestown, Virginia, 1619.
  • Plymouth was established.

    In 1620 Pilgrams came, lived in, and started the new colony of Plymouth, Massachuttes.
  • The French and Indain war started.

    The French and Indian war was between France and England. And the winning country would get the 13 colonies and Canada.
  • French and Indain war ended.

    England won the war, and kept control of the 13 colonies and now had control over Canada as well.
