    The maroons and slaves assulted on the whites on the event of Augst 21St because oge and chavannes had tried to get the Gerneral Assembly to persuade that citzenship inculdedd that people of color should be free.

    Toussaint sent his army to the eastern half to the island and while he was there been assembled by a whole island commitee and made himself govener in chief for the rest of his life in 1801.

    On September 23 the decree was repealed. The Assembly ordered the commissioners to go to Saint-Domingue with 18,000 troops and restore the control. In December, 1791, they arrived in Saint-Domingue and on their position was weaker because they had 6,000 troops.

    In the 1803 France had surrendered on the third of the island to the Haitians and in 1804 Dessalines who led the indigenous army, and his grenerals had procliamed that hat Saint-Domingue was now an independent nation and was now called Haiti.
