    Haiti split into two, the kingdom and the republic, but eventually got brought back together in 1849

    US occupation

    Germans were getting closer with Haiti and had noticed the US was also close. The German influence developed problems between Haiti and the US. The US stole money from Haiti and instead of repaying their debt, they gained control over the Haiti Banks.

    Duvalíer Dynasty

    Haiti underwent severe political turmoil and Dr François Duvalier was elected president. He claimed he was part of the Haitian spirits and that he would be "Forever President"

    Post-Aristide era

    During this time period Haiti used its opportunity to regain itself. They asked the Europeans for reprimands from slavery. Their president had stepped down and they are currently protesting for a better Haiti.
