There were some changes in England, during this period, in which we can mention the monarchy that was replaced by a weakened one, the freedom speech was quite limited, new theories about human being comprehension, and philosophers and Scientifics as John Locke and Isaac Newton developed new philosophies and discoveries. We can highlight important facts like the religious acceptance, the economic freedom, commercial development and industrialization among others. -
Industrial Revolution 1780-1720
Due to the Industrial revolution the greatest transformation in the last centuries was produced, and it´s absolutely essential to highlight that the industrial revolution started in having stable currency and a well-organized banking system considering previous recessions suffered without mention without quoting that the first great stage of the Industrial Revolution was the one developed between 1760 and 1870 that was a period marked by the continuous inventions and the massive production. -
Economic recession
Although there have been about 12 recessions and depressions in the UK, I will comment two of them I consider relevant, the first one as its name says “long depression” it lasted 20 years, it was so severe that caused panic.
The second one and casually comes right after the first one, was the end of the World War I, it caused the highest reduction of the Gross domestic product in England. Without mentioning what BREXIT can cause dealing with this field. -
Welfare state
Regarding the welfare in the United Kingdom different aspects have been included and improved, among them are: Old-Age Pensions Act, free school meals, this to help poor population, Raisings in the national minimum wage, free health service, anyway it has been having some restructurings, recently there was an announcement about reducing welfare state but it could also represent a raise in the minimum wage. -
Tatcherism 1975-1990
When we heard the term Thatcherism is related to the period when Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and as well as for her conservative policies, reflecting so the aspects of her ethics and personal style, the privatization policy was designated as a crucial ingredient of Thatcherism. She became famous for the nickname the Iron Lady due to her steadiness to lead the affairs of State, and the strict rule over the ministers of her cabinet. -
Modern Politics
There is a subject that has been quite relevant nowadays in United Kingdom, which is the BREXIT i.e the exit of Great Britain from the European Union. According to analysis of Britain’s economic prospects the pound sterling will lose value, and many people will lose their jobs, in the security there will be issues, cause it couldn’t be possible the control of people entering the country Regarding this topic, main political parties: Conservative Party of the United Kingdom, and UK Labor Party.
