    Federal government had passed an act that designated the entire Great Plains as one enormous reservation.

    Government changed its policy and created treaties that defined the specific boundries for each tribe.
  • Massacre at Sand Creek

    The Cheyenne beleived they were protected by the US governemtn and had peacefully returned to Colorado's Sand Creek. When General S. R. Curtis sent atelagram to Colonel John Chivington and said he wanted no peace. THe Cheyenne were attacked 1864 were killed.
  • Crazy Horse

    Crazy Horse ambushed Captain William J. Fettermanand his company at LOdge Trail RIdge. Over 80 soldiers were killed.

    Sioux agreed to live on a reservation along the Missouri RIver, was forced on the Leaders of the Sioux.

    US Army hearded the friendly tribes onto reservations while opening fire on all others.
  • Custers Last Stand

    THe Cheyenne and Sioux held a sun dance. During which Sitting Bull had a vision of soldiers and Native Americans falling from there horses. Once Custer's troops reached the Bighorn River. The Native Americans were ready.
  • Dawes Act

    Aiming to "Americanize" the NAtive AMericans.Broke up reservations and gave some of the reservation land to individual Native Americans.
  • Wounded Knee

    The SEventh Cavalry rounded up about 350 starving and freeezing Sioux. THey demanded that the NAtive Americans give up all weapons. A shot was fired but no one was sure from which side. THe soldiers opened fire, within minutes, they had staughtered as many as 300 mostly unarmed Native Americans in cluding several children. THey let the corpses to freeze on the ground.
