He meets Jim at a roadside diner and Hitches a ride to his family's farm

The Joads start the 2 month trip from Olahoma to Cali.

About 2 months into the trip Grampa Joad dies in the Willson's tent. He was the happiest and his death foreshadows what's waiting for the rest in the "promised land".

Near the border of Cali. she dies.

160 people show up for one job. Later Granma Joad dies.

Too many people and new ones are named "Okies".

The camps are burned down after the Okies are starved and poor. Tom trips the sheriff and Casey kicks him to knock the sheriff out. Casey gets arrested.

Friendlier camp. The police plan to riot and Tom tells the men in the camp. Weedpatch camp.

The crops are decaying and rotting away. This is harming other crops which causes a lot of debt. Because there is no profit from crops people are getting rid of it to keep the price up while many are starving.

The Joads leave the camp and go to a new Peach camp. They receive a steady pay and more to end a strike. The strike is being led by no other than Jim Casey.

Two policemen find Casey and Tom. One calls Casey a communist and when he protests, smashes his skull with a pick axe. Then Tom kills him and someone hits Tom and he flees.

The Joads leave the peach farm to pick cotton to get Tom out of there because he's in trouble.

The Joads go to the cotton field and live in a boxcar with the Wainwrights, while Tom goes into hiding in a culvert.

Tom heads off to fulfill Jim’s dream of organizing the migrant workers

Rain flooded everything.

Rose of Sharon has her baby, but it is a still born. The baby is sent in a coffin downstream.

On the 6th day of rain, most of the Joads head to a dry area which is a barn. They find a dying father, and a son. Rose of Sharon ends up breast feeding the starving man.
