    Scrabble was invented by Alfred Butts. Butts loved cross word puzzles, so he invented a game called Criss Cross Words. Then Mr. and Mrs. James Brunot, owners of one of the orginal Criss Cross Words sets, made about two changes to the game. One of the changes was changing its name to Scrabble.
