  • Period: 5000 BCE to 3500 BCE

    Mindful Mesopotamians

    The Mesopotamian government was usually made out of various kings.The kings did not have too much power, for they only ruled cities instead of the entire civilization. One of the most famous cities of Mesopotamia, Babylon was a great example. The city was always under the rule of a king. Though, this could be bad in some points, it was also a good thing. Though, there was a king, it was a theocratic government.

    Awesome Egyptian Civilization

    The Egyptians did not have a title, that was called "King". They simply had Pharaohs. Now the Pharaohs, were very connected to the gods. They were almost inseparable, you could say that! The Pharaohs were considered representatives of god. If you would be a Pharaoh, then you could be either a Pharaoh of Upper Egypt, Lower Egypt and All of Egypt.

    Heroic Harappans

    At first they believed that the gods were the owners of the land. So, in a way they first had theocracy. After that, the Harappans lived a great life but...how was their government later. Was it Tyrant or Republic? Scientists have found out that the Harappan government was a just and united one, in future years. The government was in charge of the infrastructure. They built drains so that water did not flood the cities, and also built defences such as walls to protect themselves from any harm.

    Malicious Mayans

    The Mayans had hierarchy. The cities were ruled by kings and priests. While the kings had the power over the army and the military forces. While the kings were in charge of hundreds capable killing machines, the priest were in charge of religious affairs. They had to decide who to sacrifice, who should be sacrificed and who should not, and how much rice was to be saved for the gods, and how much for them.

    Cool Chinese

    The Chinese were a very complex civilization. They were ruled by Emperors. The ruler wasn't just a person who was elected, or the previous king chose him. It was simply the dynasty. The dynasty was made up of the previous kings' descendants. It became a different dynasty if the country was invaded, or if the heir of the throne was a female. This was because when she married. Once she had married, the queen's husband would become the emperor and she the empress. This was done for many years.

    Godly Greeks

    The Greeks had many kinds of governments. They had Tyrant, Oligarchy, and Democracy. Yes, they were the first to use democracy. This made their government one of the most fair and just one back in those days. Their idea was so good that we still use Democracy!

    Rocking Romans

    The Romans were a clever civilization, but how was their government. Before they had kings. Soon kings were no longer wanted and it became a republic. The republic lasted a long time. Few hundreds of years later, the Romans got tyrants. Not long after tyrants came along, the empire dissolved.
  • Period: 539 BCE to 331 BCE

    Pursuing Persians

    The Persians were known for their vast empire. Their government needed to be strong. Before, the Persians were ruled by Emperors. That soon ended and the empire broke in to provinces. Then came along jolly, old Darius. He decided that he had to reunite Persia. Guess...was he successful? Yup! This led to Persia to be one of the strongest civilizations ever!

    Amazing Aztecs

    The Aztecs were ruled by kings. He was the strongest, and the one who could walk around giving orders. He was affectionately called the Huey Tlataoni. He was in charge of leading the army and also attacking and raiding enemy cities to gather people for sacrificing. He was in charge of all the peoples issues and tried to make sure it was fair for them.
  • Modern Day Government

    Modern Day Government
    Now we are following the good and democratic way of leading our people. It is democracy. It was used by the Greeks and here we are now. This gives us evidence that we need to have a vast expanse of knowledge about the past to build and form our future. In some cases, the civilizations were better, while in others, not so much. We really owe the Ancient Greeks a Thank You! Some leaders can be good, and some bad. This is one of the many things we have in common - we always have had bad leaders!
