Edward Hargraves was the first person to find gold and claim it. He wanted to find gold in California but failed and realised that the Australian land shape was a lot like California's. • The Lambing Flat Riot

    The Lambing Flat Riot
The Roll Up banner around which a mob of about 1,000 men rallied and attacked Chinese miners at Lambing Flat in June 1861. I chose this because it is very violent and cruel to the misunderstood Chinese miners.
  • Buckland Riot

    Buckland Riot
At the time approximately 2000 Chinese and 700 European migrants were living in the Buckland area. They were angry at the Chinese because so many were coming so they wanted to get rid of them so they said you have to pay 5 shillings just to pass through, that law was only for Chinese. I chose this event because it was being racist and mean to people who did things differently.
