Took place in WW1. There was a crunch for food during this time because soldiers were fighting. They didn't have time to waste by looking for something to eat. So, since they didn't want the soldiers to die by starving to death, they found ways to get and store the food.

During the Great Depression. These were economic times, people started getting creative and added breadcrumbs. They were looking for different ways to add fats to pastries or cakes since the demand for cost was going up.

Women started uniting in the labor force. Since they were working, they had little time to prepare a meal so quick meals and the need for food were raised. Grocery stores were struggling to find new products to sell.

The FDA and USDA were providing better food quality. The help for government need raised but safer foods came into effect.

Food safety was more important. More international foods were being introduced. People were happy to have more ways to make food/quick meals and the supply in grocery stores went up.
