    Hitler met with his top military advisers. He declaired that to grow and prosper Germany needed the land of it's neighbors. He planned to absorb Austria and Czechoslovakia into the third Reich.

    German troops marched into Austria unopposed. A day later, Germany announced that it's Anuchluss, or union, with Austria was complete. The united states and the rest of the world did nothing.
  • Hitler meets with the French and British prime minister.

    Hitler invited Rench prime minister Edward Daladier and British prime minister Neville Chamberlain who promised to protect Czechoslivakia when the war seemed inevitable. When they arrived the Fuhrer declaired that the annexation of the sudetenland would be his last territorial demand. In their eggerness to avoid war, Daladier and Chamberlain chose to believe him. On September 30, 1938 they signed the Munich Agreement, which turned the sudenten land over to Germany without a single shot fired.

    When tensions rose in Poland with a potential attack possibly on them from the Germans which also cause an attack from the soviet union on the Germans. Stalin surprised every one though by signing a non aggression pact with Hitler on August 23 1939. Once bitter enemys now commited never to attack ech other.

    Two days following the terror in Poland, Britian and France declaired war on Germany.

    Hitler launched a surprise invasion on Denmark and Norway "to protect these countires freedom and independence." but in truth Hitler planned to build bases along the coast to strike at Great Britian.
  • Hitler hands French officers his terms of surrender.

    At Campiegne, as William Shirer at the rest of the the world watched Hitler handed French officers his terms of surrender. Germans would occupy the northern part of France and a Nazi- conntoled puppet government headed by Marshall Philippe petian, would be set up at Vichy, in southern France.

    The RAF shot down over 185 German planes; at the same time, they lost only 26 aircraft.
