  • Adolf Hitler's rise to power in Germany

    After WW1 many soldiers were jobless and homeless and joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party. He talked his way into power my convincing Germany that he would boost the economy. He wanted to unite all German speaking countries into German empire and to purify any other race that wasn't their blue-eyed blonde-haired "Aryan" race.
  • Mein Kampf

    It was a belief that every German person was entitled to a house and land to live on on Earth even if it was to be achieved by force
  • Benito Mussolini's facist government in Italy

    When he came in power unemployment was high and people were mad. He knew what the public wanted and told them that's what they would get through his rule and won the support of the majority of people.
  • Joseph Stalin's totalitarian government in the Soviet Union

    After V. I. Lenin died in 1924, Stalin came into power and turned the Soviet Union into a communist country
  • Japanese invasion of Manchuria

    Japan thought that the Japanese people needed more living space and invaded Manchuria, China which killed many innocent people.
  • Storm troopers

    They were also referred as "brown shirts" and were mostly jobless people who Hitler took into his private army. They typically did so out of desperation.
  • Third Reich

    Once Hitler was a chancellor or prime minister, he dismantled the Weimar Republic and put in the Third Reich which supported his beliefs.
  • Hitler's military build-up in Germany

    In 1935 Hitler began a military build up which violated the Treaty of Versailles, then in 1936 he sent troops to Rhineland which had been demilitarized due to the Treaty of Versailles.
  • Mussolini's invasion of Ethiopia

    After building his Roman Empire, they invaded Ethiopia and the League's response was a boycott
  • Hitler invades the Rhineland

    After his military build up in Germany in 1935, he sent troops into Rhineland to invade them while the League did nothing to stop him.
  • Francisco Franco

    He led a revolution against the Spanish Republic to overthrow it and which caused a civil war and started a fascist government
  • Hitler's Anschluss

    This was when Hitler's annexed Austria into Nazi Germany
  • Munich agreement

    This agreement was when Nazi Germany, the U.K., France, and Italy that had Czechoslovakia surrender its borders to Nazi Germany
  • Rome-Berlin Axis

    This was a union between Germany and Italy that tipped the tides of the war
  • Nonagression pact

    This was an agreement by Joseph Stalin that Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union would never attack each other
  • Blitzkrieg

    This was a military tactic by Nazi Germany that would attack an enemy by surprise by using fast tanks and aircrafts
  • Britain and France declare war on Germany

    Around this time Britain and France were allies and both declared war on Germany
  • Phony War

    The Phony War was a time period when people sat around waiting for something to happen after Britain and France declared war on Germany
  • Hitler's invasion of Denmark and Norway

    This was when German troops advanced on Denmark and Norway expanding their territory
  • Hitler's invasion of the Netherlands

    When Hitler and his army invaded the Netherlands the battle went on for four days until Dutch forces were forced to surrender
  • Germany and Italy's Invasion of France

    The Axis powers Germany and Italy invaded France which was the first major engagement of Italy in the war also called "Battle of the Alps"
  • Marshal Philippe Petain

    He was the French ambassador to Spain during WW2
  • The Battle of Britain

    This was a campaign on Britain by Nazi Germany in an effort to win Britain but they British were able to win in the end and defeat the Nazis
  • Pearl Harbor Attack

    This was a Japanese attack on the Hawaiian island in Honolulu which dropped bombs on U.S. ships which led the U.S. into WW2
  • War Productions Board

    A government agency that controlled trade and products during the war
  • Internment

    After the Pearl Harbor attacks the U.S. became paranoid and interned Japanese citizens of the west coast into internment camps
  • U.S. convoy system

    This was a system used in WW2 which sent groups of ships to protect each other overseas which was made out of desperation
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    This was when the Germans invaded Stalingrad in the Soviet Union. They bombed the whole city and it was all on fire. It was so bad that Russian officials contemplated abandoning the city but the Soviet Union won
  • Operation Torch

    This was an operation by the Anglo-American operation to invade the French morocco and Algeria
  • Unconditional surrender

    This is a surrender where no guarantees were made to the surrendering party
  • Women's Auxiliary Army Corps

    It was a division of women in the U.S. military
  • Office of Price Administration

    An administration that controlled the flow of money after the war started
  • Korematsu v. United States

    This was a court case where a Japanese citizen upheld the U.S. over the internment of Japanese citizens during WW2
  • Bloody Anzio

    This was a campaign by Italy that was opposed by Germany
  • D-Day

    This was an invasion by the Allied powers on the beach of Normandy which was an Allied victory
  • Battle of the Bulge

    A German offensive campaign on the West front which ended in an Allied victory
  • Battle of the Atlantic

    This was a huge campaign which took over the Atlantic ocean which went from 1939-1945 which was U.S. v. Nazi Germany in a series of dogfights and ship battles
  • Death of Hitler

    When Allied forces advanced on Hitler's bunker, he killed himself
  • V-E Day

    This was the day when Nazi Germany surrendered and the Allied powers won
  • Lend Lease Act

    An act passed that promotes U.S. security
  • Harry S. Truman

    He was the 33rd president who succeeded after the death of Roosevelt and put the Marshal act in place to rebuild Europe
  • Manhattan Project

    The project that was lead by scientists and military officials to create the atomic bomb
