    Hernando De Soto lead the first European expedition deep into North America. He is also famous for defeating the Inca empire.

    Charter of 1732
    The Charter of 1732, was signed by King George. Once the Charter was signed the colony was officially established, and had their own governing board.

    Oglethorpe Arrives
    James Oglethorpe arrives at Yamacraw Bluff, in hopes of starting a new life for those in debt. Starting this colony would help boost the economics of Britain as well, by proving them with many free goods. He also wanted to create a buffer against the Spanish in Florida.

    Georgia Ratifies Constitution
    Georgia was the fourth state to ratify the U.S. constitution. There was a meeting held in Augusta where they voted on the ratification of Georgia, it was unanimous.

    Austin Dabney
    Austin Dabney a former slave, served in the Georgia militia to defeat the British. He was the first African American to be granted land in Georgia after the war.
