Genghis Khan was born in Mongolia. He was originally named Temujin, after a Tatar cheiftain his father had captured. He was born a memeber of the Borjigin Tribe and was a descendant of Khabul Khan. He was born with a blood clot in his hand, which was known as a symbol of a great leader.

When Genghis was nine, his father brought him to live with his future wife, Borte. His father was invited to dinner with the rival Tatar Tribe, of which he was poisoned. Genghis then moved back to his home where he took his fathers position as clan cheif.

This marriage cemented the alliance between the Konkirat Tribe and his own tribe. Soon after Bortes was kidnapped by Konkirat Tribe. Genghis rescued her and soon after she gave birth to her first son Jochi. Genghis had four more sons with other wives, this was a Mongolian custom.

When he was 20, he was captured in a raid by former family allies. He escaped with the help of a captor . He then joined his brothers and a few other clansmen to form a fighting unit. He built an army of about 20,000 men. His goal was to unite the Mongols. He used his army to get revenge, for example he decimitated the Tatar Army to avenge his fathers death.

Him and his army defeat the strong Naiman Tribe, giving him control of central and eastern Mongolia. The early success of the Mongol army owed much to the great tactics of Genghis. Out of 80,000 soldiers, each was equipped with a bow, arrows, a sheild, a dagger and a lasso. THey also carried food, tools, and spare clothes.

Genghis took control of planning and executing a three prong attack of 200,000 Mongol soldiers against the Khwarizam Dynasty. They slaughtered city after city until they finally brought the Khwarizam Dynasty in 1221

Genghis died in 1227, soon after the submission of the Xi Xia. He was a very powerful leader and led the Mongols through many tough battles.
