Physical Altercation
On August 12th, the couple were spoken to by police. They had been pulled off to the side of the road and a police officer checked on them and found Gabby distraught, having them leave the vehicle to question them. The officer learned that they had gotten into a physical fight and advised them to stay away from each other for the night. Brian and Gabby pleaded that no one should be charged where they are in love and soon to be married. The officer labeled it as a mental crisis. -
Last Conversation
On this day, Petito's mom reported that this was the last call and conversation they had with their daughter. Petito had told her mother that herself and Laundrie would be on their way from Utah to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. Petito had sent a few texts here and there after the FaceTime call, then posting on instagram on the 25th, and was not heard from again after that. -
Strange Text
On August 30th, Petito's mother was said to have received a text from her daughter stating that she had no service and was in Yosemite. However, her mother said she does not believe Petito sent that text and didn't think the text was true but more of an excuse as to why she would have disappeared through texting and whatnot. -
Return
Brian Laundrie made his return back home to his house in North Port, Fla. The van they were driving was registered under Petito's name however, when Laundrie returned home, he was on his own and Petito was nowhere to be found. The van was what they had used for the trip so it was suspicious that Laundrie came back by himself. -
Person Of Interest
Laundrie was considered a person of interest after not agreeing to making any statements or cooperating. -
Missing
Laundrie went missing and his family reported they had no idea where his whereabouts were. The Petito's lawyer believed that Laundrie was in hiding. -
Confirmation
The FBI found out that the body they discovered was indeed Gabby Petito and the cause of death was strangulation, deeming as a homicide. -
Laundrie's Remains
Remains that were discovered days before were confirmed to be Laundrie's on Oct. 21. The identity was confirmed through dental records. Brians death was ruled a suicide with a gunshot to his head in which made others believe he did in fact kill Gabby Petito.
