King George signed the charter to establish Georgia as a colony. Leading to the first colonist to come over from England to the new colony of Georgia. I believe this is a very significant time because it is when everything happened. Making it established that there was a new colony. -
February of 1733 was a big month for the new colony of Georgia. This is when Oglethorpe traveled to America, specifically the colony of Georgia, with 35 families. They found out that the land was inhibited with Native Americans. This is the time the people selected Oglethorpe as the leader because they were in over their heads and had no idea what to do. -
Georgia Day is a holiday that the United States recognizes in honor of the colony founding the Providence of Georgia. -
This is the time that the first settlement in Georgia was made. Oglethorpe and the English settlers meet the Native Americans of this place and worked together to name it Savannah. It was originally the last 13th colony of Britain but later become a part of the United States. -
Oglethorpe called a meeting with the Creek Indians of the Georgia land. He wanted to offer peace and friendship to them. This was to keep them on each others sides and keep peace throughout the lands. This is when the Treaty of 1734 was signed between Oglethorpe and the Creeks. -
Oglethorpe returns to England to update the people on how the colony was coming along and to discuss the settlement details. Since this was a part of the British colony they had to have input on things that were happening and going to happen. When Oglethorpe plans to return to Georgia, he takes Tomochichi with him to help with the Georgia colony with trades with the existing Native Americans. -
Oglethorpe returns from England to start the new settlements in the Georgia colony. This is when he started St. Simons and Augusta. These spots were set up in place because they were both suited for the troops. Allowing the troops to have access to see the waters and the land to protect their people. This is important because these are the first settlements that were created in the new Georgia colony. -
In January of 1736, Oglethorpe ordered that a fort be built in Augusta on the Savannah River. The 110- foot square stockade with bastions on the four angles, was built to help control fair trade between the Native Americans. It was supposed to create easy trade between the people and never used as a weapon until later on. -
The battle between the Spanish and the British forces took place on the St. Simons Island. The Spanish were trying to take control over inland waters. The battler resulted in Britain winning and Georgia taking claim to the island. -
Georgia seen how Britain was with some of their things and they wanted to do the same. The Georgia colony wanted to have alcohol, slaves and participate in their own government. This meant it had to be passed for it to become a royal colony instead of a trustee.

The fugitive slave act was passed. This allowed for the capture and return of runaway slaves. -
Georgia forbids anymore slaves to be imported into the state. They were trying to stop slavery so they though this would help the process of that. Soon bans all importation of slaves.

President Andrew Jackson goes to Fort Scott to send troops into Spanish Florida because they had been raiding United States territory.

The Cherokee and Creek Indians are forced out of the state to go east of the Mississippi River. So the people could take over their lands.

The underground railroad started. This was a network of secret routes and safe houses established in the United States during the early to mid-19th century. It helped slaves escape into free states and Canada.

A man named Dred Scott who was a slave sued the court system for his freedom. This caused lots of problems but eventually led to African Americans getting their freedoms.
