    Declaration of Independence
    On July 4th 1776, the Declaraction of Independence was made. Freeing us from Britain's rule. This is why we celebrate the 4th of July and set off fireworks, to celebrate that we broke free.
  • Signing of the U.S. Constitution

    Signing of the U.S. Constitution
    On September 17th 1787, the U.S. Constitution was finished and signed.
  • The Trail of Tears

    The Trail of Tears
    As a part of Jackson's Indian removal act, the Cherokee Nation was forced to give up it's land, and move to reserved land. The reserved land today is now Oklahoma.

    When James Marshall found a gold nugget in a river in California in 1848, it caused the California Gold Rush. Bringing thousands of people to California to search for gold. The gold rush ended in the year of 1855.

    The Battle of Gettysburg was fought July 1–3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, by Union and Confederate forces during the American Civil War.

    The day Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Boothe at Ford's Theater, on April 14th of 1865.

    Chinese Exclusion Act

    The Chinese Exclusion Act, signed into law on May 6, 1882, by President Chester A. Arthur, effectively halted Chinese immigration for ten years and prohibited Chinese from becoming US citizens. Through the Geary Act of 1892, the law was extended for another ten years before becoming permanent in 1902.

    Vietnam War

    Vietnam was the longest war in American history and the most unpopular American war of the 20th century. It resulted in nearly 60,000 American deaths and in an estimated 2 million Vietnamese deaths. Even today, many Americans still ask whether the American effort in Vietnam was a sin, a blunder, a necessary war, or whether it was a noble cause, or an idealistic, if failed, effort to protect the South Vietnamese from totalitarian government.

    Apollo 11 Mission

    On July 16th 1969, Apollo 11 launched for it's missio to the moon. On July 20th 1969 Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Along with Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. They returned home on July 24th 1969.
    Neil Armstrong was born August 5, 1930, and he died August 25, 2012.

    On March 16, 1980, the first sign of activity at Mount St. Helens occurred as a series of small earthquakes. On March 27, after hundreds of additional earthquakes, the volcano produced its first eruption in over 100 years.

    The Hubble Space Telescope is a space telescope that was launched into low Earth orbit in 1990 and remains in operation. With a 2.4-meter mirror, Hubble's four main instruments observe in the near ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared spectra.
