End of French Indian war
A war between the French and the British caused over land disputes ending. The colonists were happy the war was over however they will soon be upset at the taxation. -
Sugar act
The sugar acts were a series of acts the aimed to force the colonies to buy only British sugar and molasses instead of importing them from other sources. The colonists weren't happy about this, as it was the first tax placed on them. -
Stamp Act
A tax act against the colonies that caused all paper products to have a stamp that costed money in order to pay for the French Indian war. The colonists were upset and boycotted paper products. -
Declaratory acts
A series of acts that stated the British could tax the Americas at any time, as they were still the rulers of America. The colonists weren't happy, but the recent repeal of the stamp act overshadowed the declaratory acts a lot. -
Townshend Acts
A series of taxes placed by great Britain after the stamp act was repealed that was aimed to stop the smuggling of goods. The Colonists weren't happy about that because it caused a lot of goods to be a higher price than they priory were, this also caused violent protests and even caused the Boston massacre. -
Tea act
An act that gave tax cuts to the British east India company, and allowed cheaper tea to come through to the Americas. The Colonists didn't like this, however, as the still opposed the principle of Britain ruling over them and cutting into smugglers profits, so they continued to rebel and staged the Boston tea party. -
Beginning of the Revolutionary war
This is when the Americas finally decide to declare war on Britain after all the taxes they received without having a say in government. Many of the colonists were angry and ready to fight, while some were still more reserved and didn't think it was a good idea.
