    The code of Hammurabi was one of the earliest and most complete written code. It was announced by the Babylonian
    King Hammurabi. He was king from 1750-1792 B.C. The code was discovered in the ancient city of Susa by a French archaeologist while excavating in 1901.

It consisted of 4 books including Codex Iustinianus, the Digesta, the Institutiones, and the Novellae. Many of the laws were aimed at regulating religious practice

    Magna carta

    The Magna Carta was issued in June 1215. It was the first document to be put into writing that the principle was that, the King and his government was not above the law. The whole goal of the law was to prevent the King from exploiting his power, and placed limits of royal authority by establishing law as a power in itself.
