    Jonah and Chip were playing basketball at Jonah's house when his sister, Katharine, came out with a letter for Jonah The letter had no details about the sender. (Haddix 1,2)

    The letter says, "You are one of the missing". (Haddix 20)

Kathaline is not allowed, but still she goes. She is about to be discoverd when Jonah saved her and said " I have saved her or doomed-her" (Haddix 251)

    The leaders were time travelers and they plan to send Jonah, Chip, Katharine and one other boy, named Alex, from the group back in time. The leader says, "Welcome to the fifth century and good luck." This is the the climax because this is were they start to travel in time and from now on they will travel in time a lot so their life changes. (Haddix 314)

    "She was deathly pale, and her eyes were huge and round as if she has been terrified out of her wits" This shows that Katharine is terrified. This is direct because it says in the text that she is terrified.

    "What babies were flying the plane? You expect me to believe that ? 'Goo-goo, air traffic control, this is a baby plane one, over" This shows that Chip is smart and does not believe everything he hears. This was indirect because it does not directly say Chip is intelligent.

    "Before we begin I will have to tell you to close the cell phone off and tell you friends to turn of the walkie-talkies" This shows that Angela is a very observant person. This in indirect because it is not stated in the text.
