    This is when the stock market crashed. French fries enter into the United States from World War 1 soldiers. A general strike formed.

    In the 40s there was war time rationing as World War 2 came to an end. Canada lifted the ban on margarine. Milk and meals were provided at subsidized prices, or free in those cases of real need.

    The Sixties

    It was declared illegal under the Trade Descriptions Act of 1968 for firms or salespeople to market a product or service based on false information. The invention of the potato water gun knife revolutionizes the potato industry. By 1964, refrigerators were found in 23% of residences.
  • Big Acts

    Big Acts

    The 1984 Food Act defined food law violations, as well as the fines and defenses that apply. There was a food scare from salmonella. Bar codes are introduced.
