    Industrial Revolution
    The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes in Europe and the U.S. Foods during this time were oatcakes, boiled bacon with cabbage, bread, meat, jams, coffee, Yorkshire Parkin, pudding, eggs and gruel. Most meals were cheap and minimal during this time. 3 Facts: Jam and bread was a staple during this time period, it first began in Britain, and it all started with coal.

    Civil War
    The American Civil War was fought between the U.S. and the Confederate States of America. Union soldiers were fed boiled or salted pork or beef, coffee, and sometimes dried fruits and veggies. 3 Facts: Andersonville camp in Georgia has become one of the most infamous places in the history of war, it was the deadliest war in American history, and the union army was nearly twice the size of the confederate army.

  • War of 1912

    War of 1912
    Balkan wars consisted of two conflicts that took place in the Balkan Peninsula. Some of the foods and meals include: curried chicken, baked fish, lamb, mutton, turkey, and pudding was a common dessert. At this point foods are starting to transition a bit more from plain boiled, salted, and dried foods. 3 Facts: General Andrew Jackson won the victory, there were 700 British casualties, and there were only 13 American deaths.
  • Great Depression

    Great Depression
    The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression . Because many people were unemployed and prices raised, the food options were limited. So foods like casseroles, creamed chipped beef, chili, macaroni, potatoes, hotdogs, soups, and creamed chicken were common foods to eat. 3 Facts: Radio and magazines were teaching women how to stretch their budget, there is a famous meal called "the poor man's meal", and the stock market lost almost 90% of it's value.
  • Corona Virus Pandemic

    Corona Virus Pandemic
    Corona Virus broke out into a worldwide pandemic this year. They have still not made a cure. Canned soups, boxed noodles, canned sauces, Mac and cheese, and overall pantry shelf food became hard to find. Foods like beef, eggs, pork, and poultry have raised in price. Similar to the Great Depression, many families can only afford inexpensive meals like casseroles, pasta, soup, etc. 3 Facts: The U.S. has 5.6 million cases, 174k deaths, and it started in Wuhan China.
