    Ferdinand Magellan was born on the 24 of April, 1480 in Sabrosa, Portugal. His parents Rui de Magellan and Alda de Mesquita where part of the noble family. He had no brothers of sisters.

    Magellan became page for Qeen Leonar in 1492 becuase my parents had served the quuen and had royal blood. A page is a person that helps out with the royal messages and helps the royal people. The next step would be to be a knight. His parents had died so Ferdinand intended to help the Queen with anything that she wanted. This event of his life helped him because he learnt important things about being an explorer/navigator.

    Ferdinand Magellan was part of his first sea voyage in 1505. He was only 25 years old. They left Portugal with little comfort becuse of space, food and drink. Ferdinand Mgaellan and his crew had to go to India to help out with the vicery. This expedtion led him to like navigating even more. In this expedition he was not the captain but he was more inportant than just a passenger

    Ferdinand left Portugal becuase the king there would not help him so he tried asking King Charles in Spain to see what he would say. Magellan was lucky and the king said he would help with his voyage around the world. Although King Charles the First financed the voyage, he did not belive Magellan.     Magellan, at that time 39 years old set sail from Sevilla, Spain with the goal to reach Mollucas (Spice Islands). He got five ships from King Charles and 260 men to go with him. Magellan was very ditermind about his plan.

    The end of our wonderful explorer was on April 27, 1521. He was 41 years old when he attemped to make a native chief Chritian but got killed in the process. His men then carried on to Spain without him.
