FEMA is slow to take action.Once the agency moves in, red tape, minimal resources, and poor management slow down the relief efforts. The agnecy is ridiculed by local government and S.C. residents.

Katrina took the lives of 1,836 people and the damage was estimated at 41 billion dollars. FEMA was again ridiculed for being late on the response leaving hundreds stranded. They where highly under staffed and few resources. It took months to get the resources and proper shelter for the refugees.
