    Unemployment Insurance

After only 3 months at war the Federal government created a Re-establishment program for returning soldiers to help the return to civilian life and passed a unemployment program led by Prime Minister King in August 1940, the following year. This made it much easier for servicemen to return to Canada and find a job without trouble. The program also aloud family allowances, health care and old age benefits. Now families could live life without the worry of another depression.

    Post war Preparation

After the war, the Canadians and Government were ready for expansion and many people ready to apply for jobs. The amount of people working in factories was much higher than before and new jobs were appearing as well. In 1944, near the end of the war when people were starting to work again, the stock market shot up over 2,100 million dollars in value and there was more opportunity to make money and get a stable job than ever. This was a great step up from WW1.
  • Positive Change

The Canadian Government made the smart decision to change these policies before the end of the war and it lead to positive change in many Canadians lives as they were able to return from the war and support their families for the coming years. Luckily they were able to analyze their mistakes from the past and capitalize on them.
