John and Julia Anne Come to America
Johann and Julianne Brose come to America from Berlin. They lived in Germany before and once Johann was done serving three years in the German-Prussian army and six years as an officer they marry and immediately get on a ship bound for New Orleans -
1917 Tornado
This Tornadran through Valley Falls Kansas. It destroyed several properties, including my great great Uncle Julius's Farm. It destroyed all 21 buildings on his property adn lifted his housefrom the foundations and moved it 15 feet away. He was in his basement with his Daughter at the time and watched it happen. The resulting destruction caused him serious financial damages and took years to rebuild. -
St. Mary's Church Burns
The St. Marys Church is a constant in Brose family history. John Brose Sr. Helped found it and John Brose Jr. helped expand the church so it could have a school as well. The KKK Burned it down and the community bandede together to rebuild the church better then ever. The Brose Family also donated a large stain glass of the Ascension and the altar which is still there to this day. -
WW2
My great Grandfather Carl filled out the registration information for WW2. -
The Great Flood of 1951
This was when the Kansas river flooded. My grandmother was working in Topeka at the time and saw the destruction in person. She saved newspaper articles of the event to this day. -
Korean War
My Grandpa MAy served during the Korean War. He was part of an artilery unit and focused on fixing and using cannons.
