Exposure to Media

  • Telephone (Industrial Age)

    Telephone (Industrial Age)
A system that converts acoustic vibrations to electrical signals in order to transmit sound, typically voices, over a distance using wire or radio.
We used to own an old telephone ever since I was born and I remember playing it when I was a little even though nobody really taught me how to use it. Even now, I do not know how to possibly dial a number with its revolving pad.
  • Radio (Electronic Age)

    Radio (Electronic Age)
Radio carries sound messages. My parents love to listen to the radio so that even if there's no image, they can hear the news. We have a big radio, which was already there ever since I was born, that is still working and truly I cherish it since I learn my first songs through it.
  • TV (Electronic Age)

    TV (Electronic Age)
A system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens, chiefly used to broadcast programs for entertainment, information, and education.
I got exposed to it since birth, since it's where I could watch programs for children but back then I didn't enjoy it as much as listening to the radio because the color and visual noise bothered me.
  • Motion Picture (Industrial Age)

    Motion Picture (Industrial Age)
Watching films has always been the what I like to do most. I was exposed to it ever since I was a little, and from there I undeniably gain new knowledge about the world.
  • Typewriter (Industrial Age)

    Typewriter (Industrial Age)
A machine for writing by means of keyboard-operated types striking a ribbon to transfer ink or carbon impressions onto the paper. My auntie used to own one and she let me and my cousins use it so that we would know how to use it.
  • Desktop Computer (Electronic Age)

    Desktop Computer (Electronic Age)
It is a personal computer that fits on a desk.
I got exposed to it when my father brought an old computer and I got obsessed with the games. As time passes, my aunt connected us to their WiFi and I learned new possibilities. Now, I'm not using a desktop computer anymore but got updated.
  • Browsers (Information Age)

    Browsers (Information Age)
Programs with a graphical user interface for displaying HTML files, used to navigate the World Wide Web.
These are only helpful when there is an internet connection. Once you can access it, information is countless.
  • Social Networking Sites (Information Age)

    Social Networking Sites (Information Age)
These are online platforms that people use to build social networks or social relations with other people who share similar personal or career interests, activities, backgrounds or real-life connections.
I was first introduced to facebook then to twitter and I find them addictive and helpful at the same time since I can get many information from there. What I love about social media is that anyone can have an access to it and that we can be free to express ourselves through it.
  • Smartphone (Information Age)

    Smartphone (Information Age)
A mobile phone that performs many of the functions of a computer, typically having a touchscreen interface, Internet access, and an operating system capable of running downloaded applications.
When I started to own one, I realized that possibilities are just one tap away.
  • Projector (Electronic Age)

    Projector (Electronic Age)
An object that is used to project rays of light, especially an apparatus with a system of lenses for projecting slides or film onto a screen.
I've known and seen it even before but I got exposed to it when I went in DLSL because my school before wasn't allowing us to use the projector. It's useful since it has no radiation and the details are adjustable in size.
